King Wood Bowl
My latest try. It is turned from made from rare King Wood. I went to a yard sale and bought 250 lbs. of the king wood. It was an interesting turn. The grain went in several different directions. But it is so fine grained that it didn’t catch. It is about 6" in diameter and 2.5 " high. There is no finish on them. They are sanded to 1200 grit and just buffed. It is an oily wood sot that the dark parts bleads over and stains the sap wood. It didn't photograph well. The color is actually closer to purple than the dark brown that is shown.
