This one I barely got in the house and SWMBO laid claim to it. Good thing she has such good taste. Not the greatest picture but it gets the point across. Bowl is 2 7/8” tall x 9” wide. Sanded to 400. Has 2 coats of sanding sealer, Seal-A-Cell. Wet sanded. Several coats of Arm-R-Seal wet sanded between each coat. An ogee curve inside and out. Love to hear your thoughts, good or bad.
I already know the pic is cruddy. Need to see about taking a better one so that you can really see it.
Love it. I think a gentle ogee lends any bowl a certain elegance.
BTW - if you focus on the closest part of the bowl to the camera, it and everything behind it will be in focus. If your camera won't focus on the front edge - happens to me a lot - place something directly in front of it that the camera will focus on - like a piece of paper with some printing on it - hold the shutter release button half way down, remove the extra piece, then depress the shutter button the rest of the way.
Frank, good idea on the printed card in the front. Part of the problem is the high gloss finish. When I do happen to get it to focus, the sides look to be double or triple. I probably need to think about a better tripod, one that my camera will actually screw onto, and some filters. Then again, that would mean a trip into Louisville and into one of the more popular malls. Yuk. But it might be worth it in the long run.
Thanks for the complements. I enjoy this form a lot and am tending to fall back on it more and more. Also seems to be the ones that LOML grabs quickly. So usable in so many different ways. 8-)
I have a similar problem to you with the LOML taking control of the latest work. She has an emotional attachment to the old chestnut tree so every piece that comes home from that wood tends to disappear from the public display area in the house and ends up in her room.
Live long, love lots, and turn fast.
