Spalted Sweet Gum 1107

The 3rd in the group of 4 from the same chunk of wood. 2 3/4" tall and 6 1/2" wide. finish is tung oil finish followed by Beall buff. Found a bit of a punky area in this blank. The inside bottom is not smooth all the way across. For what ever reason there is a ridge that runs across the bottom. May be a line that swelled with the finish. Anyway, not the best piece I've done, but it does feel nice in the hand.

Frank, you know I think it is. Pretty sweet stuff. I have one more of these larger pieces to turn from it. Will probably turn an open form. Haven't done one of those in a while. Any particular reason you ask other that to know that it started with you? 8-)
