Piece of wood that I got from Smoky. Absolutely wild grain movement. Color galore. Piece is 6 1/2" wide by 2 7/8" tall. Finish is tung oil finish followed by Beall buffing with all three grits. Not sure what else to tell you about it, so feel free to ask any questions you might want to ask. All questions and comments welcome.
Mark I've used it on every piece since I got it set up. I'm still learning it. I've messed up a couple of pieces by cutting through the finish. Learned that you really don't need to start with tripoli every time. At the same time, if the white diamond doesn't get it, back up and use the tripoli. I've heard some folks say that they never use tripoli on light wood nor white diamond on walnut. Don't know that I agree wit that completely, but I understand their point. At the same time, if the finish has filled all the pores and is smooth, then the compounds can't get into the pores and show later. So ... I really like the carnuba wax on all the pieces. Not only is it hard, it feels really good. It is so silky smooth to the touch. 8-)
Rev, I still have a little of that cherry, maybe I can bring you some more when I come to play on your Nova 16-24.
That really looks nice, I like the shape and shine.
