Mortar an Pestle

Here is a piece of sweet gum dried using a microwave. Once it was dry I re-chucked it and finished the job. Took about half a day to cut the blank, ruff turn, dry, finish turning and finish which is Minway semi gloss poly. Sanded to 400 grit, was done about 5 months ago.

Thx everyone, I forgot to mention the dimension, the mortar is 4" x 4" with a 1/2" wall and the pestle is 5 1/2" tall, I wish now I had made it a bit longer. The blank was just big enough to turn the bark off and it left the dark area's where you see them, a stain from the bark I guess and the long dark streak with the hole in it is a bark inclusions, I though it gave the piece character and an old look as well, so I left it in.

Mike you got a point their, something I didn't think about... Ouchhhh!!!
