EB C&T - Base

This angle shows the octagonal cup that supports the bowl as well as the end of the dowel that runs up the middle of the base. The base is formed from three pieces of wood stacked face to face so the grain is running the wrong way to be able to thin the stem without weakening it too much. My solution was to bore a 3/8" hole completely through the base and glue in a dowel that does have the grain running the proper way for support.
