Turned for a fun project challenge that was offered in the forum. Wood is green hackberry that was cut down in the back of my dad's shop. About 7" tall, 3" diameter. Bottom bulb is hollow to about 1/4". Stem is thinner with a center hole of 3/8". Obviously too narrow to be hollowed from the top. Finish is a coat of homebrew that I couldn't begin to tell you what it is, and a coat of Velvit Oil rubbed in by hand until dry to touch. 24 hours to dry and then buffed with Tripoli, White Diamond, and Johnson's Floor wax. All comments, questions, and critiques welcome.
It is fun to make. Different than the normal piece. And they should create lots of questions. Will look great with an artificial rose or two as well. 8^)
