Hackberry

Did some serious work around the house and yard this morning. So to reward myself I turned this little friend. Hackberry (I think) around 5 1/4 x 2 3/8" Finish is Velvit oil that will be buffed out and waxed in a few days. Questions and Comments requested and desired.

lovely bit of grain showing, reminds me a bit of a rolling sand dune.
I like the flow from the rim to the base,
Never heard of Velvit oil? is that a synthetic? or organic

Looks like you forgot to seal the log it is sitting on. Might have to do som serious trimming to get any good wood for turning. Wink

Mike, done on Nova 1624. I had started a piece on Big Blue and tossed it. So I did this one to calm my nerves (hahaha).

Greg, I was going to label this dunno wood, but Dad had some hackberrys taken down a couple of weeks ago. The bark and wood are the same. I would imagine that the oil I applied brought some similar colors though. I love what oil does to most all woods.
