This is a little hollow form I made from some scrub oak I removed from my father in-law's back yard. It turned out to be quite spalted but solid because the stump was left standing. This was also my first go with my hollowing tool I made with a ghetto laser pointer. It sure made getting the thickness a lot easier.
Robert, not the prettiest piece of timber, but boy I like the form top to bottom, can't seem to pull it up but looks like a bit of checking down below, nice job
Thanks, there might be a little checking on the bottom but I think most of it is just the way it looks from the spalting and worms. The stump had been dead for years and was a bout four feet long. I don't know why they cut it off so high but it all worked out for the better for me. Naturally dried and spalted without going completely rotten if it were on the ground.
Live long, love lots, and turn fast.
Very nice Robert. You've done a very good job with the overall shape and the beaded mouth looks great. You need to show us this "ghetto laser pointer" business over on the board. 8^)
