This is a hollow form I made out of aspen. I intended to put a little lip on it but I had a tool catch while I was working on the shoulders so I had to rethink the design.
I finished it by friction applying paraffin then buffing with some paste carnuba wax.
Yes aspen. This is from the same tree as another hollow form I posted. It was from a tree that grew next to my neighbor's driveway that had been dead for a while and blew over in one of this year's storms. Being the nice guy that I am, I cut it up and removed it for her. She received another hollow form as a thank you for the wood.

I kind of feel the same way as you do Don but I'm finding that some of what we like, that primarily shows off our skills, isn't always appealing to others. People worry about pieces with small bottoms not being stable of coffee tables and shelves. Especially if they are looking for a vase to put dry or cloth flowers in.
