I like this one, having looked at it a number of time.
I do have a question; where the ring meets the bowl body, some of the joints seem very straight and other appear to dip a little bit. Is that just a camera distortion? If not I think it would be very interesting if all the segments dipped uniformly.
Still like it a lot!!!

If I understood your question right, here's the answer. No the ring is straight but the color bleeded through the tape. I did not sand it off because it was so deep in the wood. Thanks for comment.
