Don's cedar hollow form reminded me of a bowl I recently finished. I kept all of the knots and it is turned on the end grain. There are two more similar knots on the other side. I gave this to my mother for her birthday.
It is about nine inches wide and four high. Finished with lacquer.
One thing that always amazes me with cedar is that the colors often look like they got smudged together. Sometimes they follow the rotation of the lathe but it is really an artifact of the wood itself. Whenever I work with it, I can't wait to see what gems are hidden in the wood.
Live long, love lots, and turn fast.
Beautiful work Robert, I too really like to work with Cedar. The color contrast with the red and white can be very surprising at times. Again nice work.
