This is a bowl I finished of tonight after work. It cracked a little before I could get to the stump. The bark didn't want to come off so I left it there. The cracks are filled with brass shavings and CA. The finish is a wipe on, garnet shellac I mixed up. It really pops the grain out. I'll be keeping this one for myself.
Thanks Bill. Since the blank has those cracks and the bark didn't want to come off, I thought I'd go with the natural edge and keep it kind of rustic. The garnet shellac really accentuates the grain because it really soaks into the winter ring and only rests on top of the growth ring.
Live long, love lots, and turn fast.
