Texas Ebony HF

Not the best form. Blank started out about 3 times larger than final piece. A crack appeared after roughing and by the time I turned it out, this is what was left (could have filled/stabilized the crack, but didn't really want one in this piece), ended up taking about 2" off the top because it had become too tall and narrow after turning out the crack. 3 1/2" tall x 3" wide, opening and base both 2" finished with 5 coats wipe on poly and beall buff.

the wood is quite nice. sorry you lost so much, but ebonies are very prone to cracking ..heat seems to be the bugaboo.
