Camphor trees were introduced in Florida (originally from China) in the late 1800's as a crop for the oil and timber. It is now considered a weed and attempts at controlling the tree have not been successful. They are available in nurseries in the south. The pieces I got came from the International Wood Collectors Society. They had a meeting in North Carolina with an auction held late in the event. This stash came from a stump cut in Florida. They still have some to available at the next event at Lake Yale 60 miles from Orlando.
