My lady love asked me to make a Harry Potter type wand for our 9 y/o granddaughter. This is what I came up with as a toy. It is Santiago Mahogany. It is 16" long. the pommel is an old curtain rod end that the dog chewed. It is just finished with Hut wax. The interesting thing is the Celtic design in the handle. It kept breaking at the glue joint. So, after several attempts and being the ever clever guy that I am, I drilled the end for a dowel. Then after gluing all of the accent in place I put a dowel up the center. It worked well.
