I like the concept that you've developed here. It works nicely. The captured ring will create discussion for sure, but I wonder if it really adds to the piece. My eye wants to stop at the ring. We normally desire to have the eye travel the entire piece, following the curve, leading to a design ring, something that we are wanting the viewer to observe. Just random thoughts. I really do like what you've done with this piece.
Now that I have your comment and take a good look, you are correct. I guess the ring is just showing off and was probably better left off. Upon further reflection it would look better without the finial, however then I would not have a lewd turning and I feel the title is the best part of this piece. LOL . I am happy that the title did not offend.
Very nice piece, Bill. You might be right about the finial though. When I hold my finger over it on the screen, I like the piece even more. Just a thought. Well done.
