This is a piece of Myrtle that didn't really have a lot of pizazz going for it. Decided to go with a 2 toned blue color and a tiny bit of pyrograghy near the rim. The lights make it look like the colors bled together but they're actually pretty crisp. It's 6.5" dia. X 5.5" tall and turned pretty thin. Finished with tung oil and Beall buffed. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome, Don L.
Hi Frank - You're correct, the bottom is much darker. It's the same color, it just has has many more coats put on it. The little top ring is somewhere in between.
Colour blind you may be, but it works for me Don. Another beauty. How did you get a picture of the lamp onto it though...???
Ruining lots of good wood to get a few average bits.
Another beautiful work. Would you be interested in sharing a tutorial on how you dye the wood? I find I enjoy some color, but need some help with the how-to. Love your work!
Ut oh! Looks like I've got myself roped in here (lol). I PM'd Neil about a text or video tutorial. Guess if it was me, I'd rather look at a video. I've never even made a home video before. Anybody have any tips on pulling this off? Perhaps I'll re-ask this question on the main page were it will get more views.
Thanks, Don L.
