I not only like sweet gum, but really like the look of it when it spalts. This wood is beautiful. Looks like your work is pretty nice too. Only thing that might make it better would have been to keep the bark on. Wonderful work though. You need to get into the current wood trade and pass along some of that great wood you're sitting on.

I am getting short on gum. I still have a 10' stump (I hope). It's got to cool off some before I try to tackle that task. Last time, my buddy got heat exaustion in about an hour. Katrina wood is getting mighty scarce. I've got a lot of Magnolia, Which I like better than gum for turning.
