My cousin brought me over a load of cedar and when I asked him what he would like in return, he said "just a simple bowl". So, that's what he got. The grain was too nice to mess around with anyway. A little texturing on the rim. Finished with Tung Oil and Beall buffed. 12" dia. X 5" tall. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome, Don L.
Thanks so much guys! The nice thing about this piece is that when I finished it and sent it to my cousin (he lives in another state), it arrived on his wedding anniversary date (I had no idea). He and his wife consider it an anniversary present. Cool!

Cathy - Well, this was done with a Sorby texturing tool. It does take a little practice. For this piece I used the large wheel and held the cutter on it's edge using a slightly downward angle. Lathe was about 750 RPM's. If you'd like any more info, check your PM for my number. It's better than all this typing.
Way beyond COOL which pass "simple" by a long shot, its a beautiful piece, I love ceder cause of its grain and smell!!! I'd like to see a video of your texturing technique on how you got it so perfect. I've got the same tool and can't get anything like that.Wizzy
Hi Mike!
Perhaps in the future I could do that. Right now I'm planning on doing a video on coloring, so that will keep me occupied for a little while. A texturing video sounds like fun though.
Thanks for asking, Don L.
