One Black Walnut box which measures 2" wide by 1 3/4" tall. This piece of wood came from a local tree which came down during one of the many storms that blew through our county over the past few years. Once turned it was hand sanded until a baby smooth surface was achieved. Three coats of Velvet Oil was applied, allowed to dry for 15-20 minutes and hand rubbed. This is one I can see being used to present a special ring to that once in a life time gal.
As always, comments, critiques, and questions are welcomed. I look forward to hearing what you have to share about it.
Way to go, Rev.! Nice looking piece. Someone putting an engagement ring inside sure would be something wouldn't it? What a compliment to the turner (you).

Looks really good Rev. and I love the grain and the way it still flows after turning.....great job
Ruining lots of good wood to get a few average bits.
Thanks everyone. There was another design that I had in mind, but this is what came out. Not so sure I don't like this better than what I had in mind. It really does feel good in the hand and the lid gives your thumb somewhere to rest when you're holding it. Fun to turn. Should be useful for the new owner. If not it needs to come back home. SWMBO was seriously jones'in over it. 8-)
