This is my first real hollow form (that lived). It's cedar and 6" tall X 4.25" wide. Finish is wipe on poly. A little texturing around the rim. I was thrilled to finally pull one of these off with a nice consistent 1/8" thickness. Please be very honest with any criticisms (I can take it)so I can go up from here. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome, Don L.
The only critisism I have on this piece Don is that it is too perfect. I have asked before to see something less than perfect from you, but so far you have let me down. Great job Don, well done.
Ruining lots of good wood to get a few average bits.
Don to be honest my brother your really slipping. this one would probably only rate a 12. But dont be too discouraged, your worst allways puts me to shame.
Don, what a great showing! If I have to nit pick, I would agree with Tom, that the curve near the food would be better if it flowed more consistently with the rest of the form. Other than that, and it is a very small criticism, it looks absolutely great.
Beautiful piece Don. Love the textured ring at the mouth. Really adds to the piece. That little flair out at the foot is pretty minor but does rob from perfection. To help eliminate that try using your parting tool early on and establish the width of your foot. Then you can more easily maintain that gentle curve. Gives you a target to terminate the flow of your form. Superb piece...Bill..
a very nice piece. although the top distracts, maybe more curved instead of flat. all in all, a most excellent piece.

You know, I was thinking there was something about the top that was distracting me, but I think I do like it actually. Had to look the third time to see the bottom. I'm thinking that if you turn that boot in rather than out it would lend to a touch more pleasing shape. BTW, you've done a great job with such a soft wood. I hope the finish remains stable and that the wood doesn't split on you down the road. 8-)
