Black and White Ebony Vase

A little vase (70mm tall) turned from Black and White Ebony. I've turned a lot of this wood and it's one of my favorites - the grain pattern always surprises but never disappoints.

Liking the shape. Looks good to me. What about the oval in the side? Is that burned in? Or natural? If burned in what it the significance? Just curious. 8-)

Doug: The oval is part of the natural grain. That's what I love about this stuff - you never know what the grain will look like. But it will always be striking.

Wow, great piece. What grain. I think the simple pleasing shape really allows the grain to showcase itself.
