This was a strange bowl. After I rough turned it, the outside had an awful lot of small cracks and the inside had almost none. They were all filled with CA glue, but after final turning the outside cracks still showed and looked terrible. Had to cover them somehow. Came up with this spray paint that looks like stone (Lowes). Hid everything and gave it a nice texture. What do you think?
It's 12" across and 5-1/2" deep. Finished with with Tung oil and Renaissance wax.
All comments welcome and thanks for looking, Don L.
That is cool, looks great and its different that's for sure. That gives me an idea for all my funky looking bowls that don't look so good on the out side... NICE!Wizzy
Several years ago somebody did a series of bowls and spayed them inside and out with this "stone" paint. Those were interesting. I find this piece just as interesting. Congratulations on a job well done. 8-)
New one on me. I have never seen paint like this. (I have never been in a Lowe's or a big store like it, I read on wwking sites) I think it was terribly creative way to "fix" your bowl. Does it come in colors? Will we be seeing new colors & concepts? The concept will have to grow on me, but again creeative!
Who da thunk it??? Interesting use for the paint... Works for me!
I used that stuff all the time back when I built sub boxes. Yep, I may be to blame for your neighborhood thumper. It seemed to hold up the best compared to the rest of the paints. It also helped keep a removable box from sliding around the trunk of a car.
Love it Don, very inovative save. I have seen this paint but never thought of this use of it. We is gonna be copyin ya. Great job.
Ruining lots of good wood to get a few average bits.
