This is one of those pieces with a story. My wife asked for a piece from a tree that was cut down near where we used to live. The owner got a similar bowl in return for allowing me to lighten his wood chopping burden.
Turned from mostly green but there is some spalting, boiled, and finish dried in the microwave. Finished with lacquer.
I cut out eight blanks out of the one chunk. Seven were and will be finished similar to this one and the eighth one was turned to final shape green in a more traditional shape. It warped to oval when it dried and looks OK but not as impressive as the natural edge pieces.
Live long, love lots, and turn fast.
