I guess we've all had a piece of wood that looked like it wasn't even worthy of the firewood pile. This is mine. It was given to me by a buddy who found it while cutting firewood and thought I could use it. Man, this was ugly. Twisted grain, rotting, bark were it doesn't belong, cracks and so forth. Not wanting to disguard his generosity, I decided to go for it. After a bunch of coffee filler, CA glue and a false bottom, this is how it turned out. The places that look like brush strokes are natural wood. The grain did bring a smile to my face. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome, Don L.
Don, is there anything you can't do? This is marvellous but you could end up cutting a stick to beat your own back when your friend shows this off and you get inundated with 'special' lumps of wood that people 'know' you will make something superb with. Such is the price of brilliance!
Perfic. I love this sort of Bowl, very good recovery. Please show us a mistake so that we all know that you are Human. Brilliant job..........again
Ruining lots of good wood to get a few average bits.
