Bowl and Plate

I was trying for an updated oriental look for this piece. Bowl is Cocobolo, and the plate is Jarrah. Bowl is just buffed and waxed, plate is finished with lacquer and buffed and waxed. The Idea came from a traditional rice bowl and plate. All comments and critiques always welcome.

Good looking stuff, Gary. Looks like you achieved what you were after. Your wood selection looks like it worked extremely well. Makes me want to copy what you have done, maybe with ebony and redheart. Very cool. 8)

That's a beautiful design and a very good combination of woods. Are they permanently attached or does the bowl just sit on the plate? Really makes me want to get out on the lathe and practice some more.
