3" high in Irish Yew ( I'm told anyway) Lidded box

This was a badly damaged home made solid lamp, thus the non match of rain,the crack is full of bark so I decided to leave it like this, all the way through to the inside. Finished with DO.

Good decision to leave the crack and bark. This is a lovely box. Isn't Yew lovely to turn?

Brendan, yes it is the first piece of what I would call propper wood I have got hold of, shame it was so damaged, but i now know that I MUST get some good wood.

I really like this one, would probably like it better with a more defind knob on the lid. But, that might be just me.. nice job!

Brad,I agrre about the top, but the wood was so damaged I couldn't do much with it. When I have had a bit/lot more practice I may go back to it and try to alter it slightly.Thanks for the input.
