The bowls were made by first cutting the blank into three 5 x 5 boards 3/4 in. thick. Angled rings were cut from each board with a Ringmaster, then the rings were stacked and glued together and then turned to finish the shapes.
The finish is 3 coats of shellac, sanded with a white non-abrasive cloth between coats. I think the main contributor to the nice finish is the hard, tight-grained birch.
Good job. This ring technique works well and should be used more, especially for those folks who have a hard time getting wood at a decent price. Glad you could show these fine examples. Did you re-saw the blocks on a band saw? 8-)
