it is interesting, I am wondering if more of a profile shot would make it more atractive to me. Looks like a good job of turning, it is just the form that is a touch off for me... but like I said might be the camera angle.
I think Brad is on to something. I like the wood and the basic design. However I have some suggestions for you that I think will help the next one be a great piece. My feeling is that the foot needs to be a touch smaller. About 2/3 the diameter of the cup is what I've tried to go by. Sometimes that just doesn't work out, but that is my goal. Also, your stem, while nice and straight, is just that, straight. It would be much more appealing with some curve to it. A bead, a bird's beak, some burn lines, anything that will break up the straightness of the stem. Still, a very good job. You did well getting the pith just off center. You should be pretty proud of this one. 8-)
Thanks again for the comments guys, with this added insite into a better design etc. I will try another.........watch this space, next one may be better or much worse, but please critique as much as you can to help me move forward...THANK YOU
Ruining lots of good wood to get a few average bits.
