Chris - Wally is in the Tucson area (Green Valley a retirement area between Tucson and Mexico), teaches a couple of classes per month at the local Woodcraft and is active in the two Woodworker/Turner clubs that meet monthly. His 60 plus years of experiance cant be beat.
I aim for about 1/8th to 3/16th of an inch on the small pieces. On the larger pieces about 1/4 inch. It also has to do with a size to weight ratio. I'm not sure what that is, but I know when I hold a piece.
I met Wally for the first time when Andi Wolfe did a demo for our club and then again when he did his demo for our club the next month. He did a great demo.
Thanks Paul, Wally is a neat guy. I met him in Pasadena a couple years ago at the AAW symposium. By the way, I removed his address/phone number from the post, just for common security reasons.
