I need your help with this one I have created this piece from a nice piece of Ash. I decided I would change the opening and spent ages trying to decide What would work. I have ended up with this slit and slightly opened rim but I am not sure it works. I have spent so long messing on with this I just don't know so I hope you will be able to give me an impartial view.
I think you've done as much as is needed with this piece. I've looked at it for some time and, whilst 'simpler' than your other pieces, it still exudes the same class that we have come to associate with your work.
The main interest here is the wood and, with that well-defined grain pattern, it doesn't need any major structural changes to attract attention. The shape of the neck with the extensions compliments the shape of the rings so, in my opinion, you have blended the design into the wood beautifully.
Maybe you feel there is more to do because this piece doesn't have as much intricate work as others but it looks superb to me.
I agree with Brendan totally. Leave it alone!!!!! It's gorgeous, classy, sleek, elegant... I said "WOW" the second I saw the photo. You did a beautiful job - as is.
