Made from Ash this pierced piece measures approx 120mm x 100mm Named after a hard boiled sweet my gran used to give me! Pierced using a dremel type tool with a 1mm pointed burr the surface was lightly wire brushed to expose the grain slightly then the piece was coloured with black spray paint
I was concerned after comments on other pieces that queried the idea of covering the natural beauty of the wood by brushing the surface I hoped to allow some of the wood quality to show.
that piece is absolutly insane! incredible job! don't feel bad about the black, it is such a bold statement, and goes perfectly with the design of the piece. probably my favorite piece on here.
Hi Richard, I intended to go to the Irish seminar because it was only 20 minutes drive from me but when the programme was announced I realised I had seen most of the demonstrators before and to go for one day was going to cost me US$160 to walk in the door. That included a light lunch but not an evening meal which would have been another $60 or $70 so I didn't bother because I would have been sure to spend more on top of that on tools and stuff.
Richard,
Sorry but I somehow missed seeing this when you posted it. I agree with all the above. Fantastic job. I do not know where some people find the patience, the end result in this case must be a great reward in itself.
Ruining lots of good wood to get a few average bits.
