i have been toying with this idea for a long time, and finally decide to try it. made from fifty pieces of paduk and maple, and yes it really works! there is a lever on the side made from a piece of 3/8" brass rod glued into a piece of paduk, then turned as one, so it is seemless. it has three inner plates that have holes drilled in them and rotate to allow the gumballs to move from the jar to the chute. the bottom rim is also dished so the gumball doesn't "jump off". this was a really cool project for me, and i would love to see it become a WR Challenge. all in all a fun project, now if i could just figure out how to make it take a quarter...
