Took a drive up Mt. Washington in June. Kept noticing fallen trees that had been cut and cleared from the road. At about 2000 feet I found a turn off and followed it to the spring cleaning crew's tree grave yard. I grabbed some nice spaulted birch logs. This piece shows off that wood nicely. Filler is good ole american bondo with blue hardner. Many coats of poly buffed to a Mercedes finish. About 6" tall and wide.
I would suggest you not use the bondo. Stick with coffee or some other brown or nearly black substance to do any filling you need. Looks like what you filled with the bondo was tear out. A bit of finish and then a finish cut would have removed most if not all of that tear out, eliminating the need for the filler. give it a try next time. If you just have to use bondo to fill I would suggest that you color it brown. It will look much more natural. Other wise, a really nice piece. Your curve is really good from bottom to top. Finish looks to be nice and smooth. Great work. 8-)
