Spalted Oak

A piece of spalted oak with Walnut base, rim, and finial. I got this piece from a wood trade we did about a year ago. Finish is 4 coats of an oil/poly blend, and buffed.

Beautiful piece, but I believe I would of made the finial a little thinner, other wise it looks Great! Thumbs Up!

The two different wood work very well together.

This is absolutely beautiful and I agree with Wizzy, a slimmer finial might look better.

Excellent work. Again, thinner finial, and a little more balance to the base. I'm betting that you'll have fantastic finials really soon. This one ain't half bad. 8-)

Cool. Thanks for the input. Looking at it now, I have to agree. I get scared going smaller than that, just sure I will get impatient and ruin it. I have a problem getting balanced finials, or even finding how to design them. However, I will keep trying. Thanks for the input.
