Hi Brendan Thanks for your comment no I didn't squeeze it at all This was what happened when I put the blow torch onto the interior I had turned a thin walled standard bowl but left it overnight half finished when I came back to complete it it had moved slightly and ran out of true so I decided to try the blowtorch It took about 40 mins as I burnt it very slowly but as a result the bowl warped itself into this amazing organic shape I thought it would split completely but except for one tiny heat check it has stayed ok. Its amazing what you can get from a piece of timber! Mother Nature at her best!
That's a great way to handle some hyperactive elm. (I've had similar overnight movement of dried and partially finish-turned elm pieces.) Beautiful bowl, and great work.
