Purple Hart Vessel

This is a stacked ring vessel using purple hart & birch. I came up with the idea for a raindrop finial using the same material as the base.
I plan on using this style finial on future pieces. It measures 5-1/2" dia X 6" tall

Mark this is pretty cool. I saw a raindrop design similar to this a couple years ago. It had the drop with ripples expanding away from it, also cool. A while back I saw your video of the process for your stacked rings. Are you a machinist by trade? Or did you design and build the rig yourself? Either way the end results are very nice indeed.

Thanks all for the nice comments.
Paul, yes I am a machinist and I did design and build the ring cutter for my PM.
I also made one for my midi lathe which this piece was cut on. I would liked to have gotten a little more curve to the piece but it is more or less a prototype for the finial.
