Here's my entry for the Spring 2009 WR C&T. Sorry for the poor resolution; my camera was out of town. Box is made from Mahogany, Ebony, and Spalted Sycamore. Hollowed to 3" depth. Overall about 8" tall and 5" wide at base. Proportions not quite right. Wanted to be more tapered, but to keep the grain orientation had to keep it thick. Learned a lot from this challenge, especially to use a less busy grained wood. C&C welcomed! www.perfectwoodworks.com
Thanks for all the kind words. As I look at it again, I can see room for improvement. I'm not an avid box turner, but with this challenge it has become more of an interest.
