That's lovely Bill. Do you shape the neck after you shape the outside or do you do the neck and then follow the shape back? I've been shaping the outside and trying to leave enough wood at the neck to shape it after I establish the sides but it's causing problems because sometimes I don't have enough wood to get the neck I want.
B, I usually use a parting tool to set the diameter of the foot. Then move to the neck and finish completely. Once the neck is done I start in on that nice curve to the foot. Sometimes end up with a shorter piece trying to get that curve pleasing to the eye. I have a hard time with that as I don't willingly shorten the piece even when it realllly needs to be done...Bill...
Thanks Bill, I'll try that. I was getting my profile and then trying to leave enough for the neck but always ended up having to compromise. Your procedure makes more sense.
