Walnut platter ( approx. 10" x 12") with natural edge. Much of the bark was off before I started turning. The rest was removed after turning. Finished with walnut oil finish. Cracks along some of the annual rings were filled with coffee/CA and/or stick shellac.
Does walnut oil give a matt finish? I've never used it but if it does I think I would prefer something that would empathise the character of the wood because there's a lot going on there. I like this and I'm going to try it if I can find a slice big enough.
Interesting piece. I'm thinking that having it in hand is needed to really appreciate what you've done. Beautiful piece of wood. A light buffing on the buffing wheel would give it a bit of shine without getting glossy. 8-)
