Check with Larry in Yakima, he has been doing a lot of Alabaster.

It isn't too hard on your tools if you are using a Ci1. Smile

Brendan, its hard enough to stay together while turning but not too hard on tools. I used carbide tiped hollowing tools to rough shape and hss scraping tools to finish.Then sanded as you would wood and put on a oil finish.It dulled the tools like realy hard wood does.Resharped and was as good as new.
