This is the bowl I had questions about the cracks. Since it's my 2nd bowl I finished & used CA & sawdust in the larger cracks. If nothing else it's a candy bowl for the office.

I finished it with a shellac, BLO & denatured alcohol (4 coats). I used a "donut clamp" to finish the bottom & now there are a couple of rings on the side where top of the clamp rode. I did have a 1/4" foam pad around it, so I must have clamped a little to tight. Any suggestions on a top finish? (I don't have a jaw type chuck to rechuck it)

Oh I forgot. Man does the dust show up in the photo! I really thought I had dusted it better than that!

Bill...it's still a lot better than my second bowl believe me! Keep it, date it and look back on it just to see how much you improve over time. Once the finish is on you are pretty much stuck with any defects you may find. Trying to sand through a finish to repair a bad spot just loads the sandpaper up...Bill..
