Vase is 3.5 by 5 inches a casting of watermelon seed and epoxy. The black outer surface of the seed colored the epoxy darker than I wanted. Finish is an added coat of exopy and wax.
The epoxy dulls the gouge fairly quick. I experience some tearout (flaking off) of the epoxy, but the tear-out for the white center of the seed is horrible. The epoxy is durable. I let the buffering wheel snatch the vase out of my hand and it bounce twice on the floor with only one minor chip that was repairable.
I use system 3 with the clear hardner. I poured the seeds into a 4 inch plastic pipe coupling with a wooden base sealed on one end. I put a tight fitting wood piston on the top after I had poured the epoxy in the mold. I used a clamp to apply pressure and prevent the mixure from floating up.
