The boss wanted a tall slim vase but with a bigger foot. She doesn't like the small "artsie" ones. Says they wobble around. 12 1/2" X 5 3/4" with 8 coats of wipe on gloss poly and 3 wheel buffed.
No chuck, being an old auto worker in paint I used our standard show-car method between coats. Wet sand with 600 till all defects are gone, put on another coat and do it all again. After final coat wet sand to 1200 or 1800 and buff it all out. Kinda time consuming but does do the job right.
Larry took the words right off my keyboard. Beautiful piece. I assume those little white spots upper left are reflections of lights? What a great piece of cedar you found to work with. 8-)
12-1/2" is something to rave about. Is this the deepest you've gone? That rig you made yourself I guess? Cedar is also a species I have never had luck with, having to do with cracks and heat checks. You have done very well here. I like it a lot.
Yes paul, it is the deepest I've done with the snake. I think I have reached the depth limit with it here. With the bigger bit holder I hit bottom ok but ran out of length on the bar to go deeper. Thanks all for the nice compliments.
Rev, yes the spots are just reflections. My photo skills are not the best but I do what I can to try and show the pieces as it really is.
