I received this hunk of wood last week from Bud and he asked if I'd post a pic. I wish I had known about this wood before I turned the form I did, as this wood deserves a much better form and design. This wood is the most dense I think I have ever turned. What fun. Hopefully I'll get a chance to turn some more in the future (Schmooze). This piece stands 5" Tall and is 3-1/2" in Dia. It has no finish whatsoever, Just sanded and you can see yourself in it.
Wow, that's a nice piece. I don't know what you would have done differently with the form. I think it compliments the wood very well. It makes me want to throw on some snowshoes and go find a piece of MM.
I've never heard of nor seen this wood before. Sure is some pretty stuff.Looks as if a woodpecker was working along the bottom with those 6 or 7 round dots. Very nice form too...Bill...

What'd I tell ya, lad, it's very nice wood to turn & finish. You'd think a dense wood would be difficult.
Paul, wife came into the room while I had this pic. up="Who did that? It's very nice."
