This is made from one of the pieces of wood that I got from Lynn Baker in AZ in a recent wood trade. It is about 8 1/4"D and 2 3/4"H.
I left the walls about 1/2" thick on this one. As I was turning it out, I just had a feeling that this one would be better suited with a heftier feel to it. To my amazement it worked.
Real nice shape and I like how the rim curves around. I would not have guessed Pecan with that dark a color. Arizona Pecan must be a bit different than Georgia Pecan.
Assuming that the background is white, the whole photo is dark. YOu might be able to lighten up the whole thing and come out with what you want on the bowl.
Pic quality aside, the bowl looks pretty nice. You've got a couple of wild checks through that limb inclusion. As long as they done continue, they really add character. If I wanted to be really nit-picky, it looks like youhave some tear-out just below the edge, right in the glare on the left hand side. Just a bit more 80 grit gouge would take care of that minor issue.
The more pecan I see, the more I want to get that piece I have turned. Still hoping for next week.
