This is really lovely and a great help to me because I am turning Silver Birch that I roughed out a few months ago and I cannot get a smooth finish on the end grain where the pith is. I am getting tear out that resembles the lighter surface in this picture despite the fact the surface was really smooth when I roughed the blanks. I was going to light the fire with the blanks, not now, I'm going to try to salvage them.
