Heh Heh Heh ..I knew I'd hear about my brevity...
It's 11"x4" and totally rotten pine or fir burl, not sure. It had a LOT of very soft wood. I had to use many coats of "wood petrifier" after it was turned and between sandings. There are a great many voids around the circumference and the pitting you see is quite pronounced. I was able to turn it to about a 1/2 thickness at the sides and a bit thicker on the bottom. I oiled it and allowed the oil to dry/cure completely then I sprayed it with numerous coats of 'Rustolium' brand clear lacquer and sanded again with wet/dry paper before a final lite spray of lacquer then waxed it.
It is an interesting piece because of the condition (rot)of the wood. Because of that, it is probably worth a couple more pictures (later) to try and show some of the detail. Tom
