Figured Maple hollow form with ebony collar. 4 1/2" tall x 3 3/4" diameter, 3/32" wall thickness. Opening is 5/8". Sanded to 1000, buffed and 3 coats of Antique oil. Lines friction burned with steel wire. Band is hand dyed with Chestnut Spirit Stain - Blue.
Chris, I'm curious. Are you selling some of these? And, if so, to men or to women? The reason I ask is that I find these with the stained band interesting and appealing. I've shown two of these to my wife, on the other hand, and she doesn't care for them. I have followed several discussions where the topic has been about who buys what. For instance, women are the ones who buy salad bowls so we must make them according to what women want. Hmmm, sounds like a new thread to me.
It's been mixed sales to be honest. Just when I think I have it figured out, a new batch goes out the door and tips the scales the other way. Here's something to think about though, all of my Primaries series has sold, including this one, all of my Maple burl forms have sold, but neither of the Collage Series pieces has sold.
Well, I was hoping that the buying public would help me decide which of these two would sell better and to get some more input to Rev's question. On the sell better point, no help...they both sold within a hour of each other today, but on the other point, the buyers were both women.
